We began as a simple graduate portfolio for our founder’s Masters program from 2017 to 2018 and then transformed into a market in 2019.

But we are more than just a market.

We are a community of creatives, entrepreneurs, educators, activists and the list goes on.

We are defining what it means to be Filipino, Filipina, Filipinx in today’s modern world.

We are breaking the status quo.

And it all starts here in the Aloha State.

So we challenge you.

What does it mean to be of Filipinx identity? What are you doing every day to educate yourself and others about being Filipino, Filipina, Filipinx? What are you doing to show your pride?

With our platform, Pusong Filipinx, we aspire to inspire people to learn more about their cultural identity, educate others and build community.

Know history, know self. No history, no self.

Enough of competing with each other. Together, we are stronger as a community.

Together, we can make a difference in the local and global community.

About Us

PusongFilipinx-29.jpg

In 2017, we began by sharing stories of Filipinx American millennials and how they interpret their cultural upbringing on a regular basis while continuing to experience daily life in the United States. In 2019, we expanded to an event that embraces creativity, featuring Filipinx and Filipinx American millennial entrepreneurs, artists and individuals while empowering culture.

After diving into the field of journalism, our founder Lalaine Ignao pursued a Master's Degree in New Media Journalism. During the program, "Pusong Filipinx" came to life as a graduate portfolio of stories depicting individual stories embodying Filipinx events, issues and individuals embracing their identity in unique ways.

Pusong Filipinx derives from the phrase “Pusong Pinoy” which means “heart of Filipino” embodying Filipino culture and identity through various acts. The name represents the millennial generation of Filipinx Americans to include all individuals of different backgrounds.

Today, Pusong Filipinx has grown into something bigger. A quarterly market geared towards highlighting Filipinx millennials, creatives and small businesses, we hope to start a new movement for the community in Hawaii and inspire others to take pride in their Filipinx identity.
